DeckWise Standard Tapered Plugs 3/8" are straight-sided wood plugs that fit 3/8" holes on Ipe wood decking, Ipe stairs, boat decks, outdoor furniture, and other projects. 3/8" IPE Plugs have a flat top, straight sides, and a slight camber on the bottom for easy installation. Side grain (face grain) helps repel water. All deck plugs are 3/8" tall. Simply tap in with a rubber mallet or similar tool. No glue is necessary, but for wet environments, waterproof glue-like epoxy or Gorilla glue is recommended to further improve the seal.

How to Install: Installing the First Deck Board. Drill a 1/8" (3,2mm) pilot hole. Drill a 3/8" (9,5mm) countersink hole approximately 3/8" deep. Drive a deck screw through the countersunk hole. Put a few drops of glue into the countersunk hole. Insert a tapered wood plug into the countersunk hole. Flush cut any protruding wood plug material. Sand and prep for a hardwood oil finish.
Note: We always encourage finding the wood grain in the plug and aligning it with the deck board grain. This will help ensure the plug is hidden as much as possible.
